Why choose Merino wool?

The many natural benefits of Merino wool—moisture-wicking, insulating, temperature-regulating, odour-resistant, and breathable—provide exceptional comfort and protection in the outdoors.

When you decide it’s time for a wash, please turn your Chillwool Merino clothing inside out to prevent pilling and follow the specific care instruction symbols on your clothing tag. You can also hand wash your clothing, which can be easier and quicker when traveling. When you’re done, squeeze out excess water but do not twist or wring.

It’s always best to lay your clothing flat on a towel or dry rack to air dry. Never tumble dry Merino wool or it will shrink. Should pilling occur, try washing your clothing with a pair of denim jeans (just make sure to close the zippers) and over time, the shorter wool fibers causing the pilling will pull away on their own.

All of our Merino wool is sourced from independent, mulesing-free farms that are Woolmark certified.

The extraordinary, natural performance of our Merino wool clothing is quite simple — we let Mother Nature do its thing. Since Merino wool has an innate ability to stay breathable, effectively manage moisture, and prevent odor-causing bacteria, the result is clothing that smells fresh no matter what you put it through.

Here’s a breakdown of how it works:

  • Merino wool is light, breathable and temperature-regulating, so you’re less likely to overheat and over perspire.
  • Thanks to its natural moisture-wicking abilities, when you do perspire, there is far less sweat collecting and producing odor.
  • Every fiber or Merino wool is naturally coated in lanolin, an organic antibacterial and safeguard against mildew, mold and odor.

The result is clothing that stays fresh and scent-free for days, weeks, and even months of wear when correctly cared for. Check out our Chiloowool for an in-depth look at the benefits of this miracle fabr

Take good care of your Chillwool Merino clothing and it will last you a long time. Avoid using deodorant or antiperspirant that contains aluminum or alcohol. Over time, the build-up of aluminum or alcohol can cause staining.

When not being worn, hang your clothes in a well-ventilated and preferably open space — the more they air out, the longer they will stay fresh without needing a wash. When you decide it’s time for laundering, please wash your clothing inside out to prevent pilling and follow the specific care instruction symbols on your clothing tag

This wool isn’t like your typical itchy sweater. It’s superfine, incredibly light and much softer than traditional wool, with some impressive performance properties that make for clothing that keeps you super comfortable at all times.

Pilling is a normal and natural process that occurs when the shorter fibers in Merino wool work their way to the surface. To prevent this from happening, we recommend that you wash your clothing after the first 3-4 wears. Should pilling occur, try washing your clothing with a pair of denim jeans (just make sure to close the zippers). Over time, the shorter wool fibers causing the pilling will pull away on their own.
